An exploration of the rich history and evolution of global medicine traditions, all of which have included herbs and food, ritual, community and connection to place. Classes will integrate folklore, energetic theories, shamanic practices and more to create a context for examining our current healthcare system, the role of “alternative” practitioners, and the need for each of us to re-skill ourselves in the traditional healing practices.

This course outlines the philosophies that underpin the community health worker project as a whole, providing a primer in what is referred to as social and ecological medicine in academic circles, but that we know simply as sustainable and sane self and peer care.
